The Manas Institute of Mental Health was established in the year 1982. Its founder Dr. Vinod G. Kulkarni established it with an overarching vision of providing affordable evidence-based mental healthcare to the underserved segments of Northern Karnataka, Goa and Southern Maharashtra. It started as a modest two-bedded day care centre and was gradually expanded in stages. As on today, it is a thirty-bedded exclusive psychiatric hospital equipped to deliver tertiary and quaternary care. It is the single largest privately owned hospital delivering exclusive psychiatric care in Northern Karnataka. We possess special expertise in the evaluation and management of complex treatment-resistant psychiatric disorders. Manas Institute has a well-established non-invasive brain stimulation (NIBS) program comprising electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) and repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS). It is the only private psychiatric hospital in Northern Karnataka which runs the NIBS program.
